Fab Five - Part 1

Hello and Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but I love Fridays. It’s the end of my work week, and I look forward to my weekends at church, recharging and relaxing with my little family and friends.

Now that we’re entering Spring, I thought about creating a new series called Fab Five - once a month, I will share a brief recap of five good things from my month and/or things I've been learning lately.

I pray they bring you joy or encourage you to reflect and live a more wholesome life, too!

  1. Lately, March has been quite a busy month. I decided to take a day for myself to rest and recharge. I hadn’t had a slow day in several months, which I desperately needed. I spent time reading the word, reflecting, writing, and reading. I even treated myself to a little hair makeover. This is a big win for me because it’s my first time getting my hair done in the Bay Area since moving. It’s the little things that matter to me. Moments where I can sit and be still, listen to music, sing, and even cook a nice dinner. Lately, rest has been essential for me; it’s been one of the sweetest moments I’ve enjoyed.

  2. Worth reading: I recently started reading through the book “The Emotionally Healthy Woman.” I already feel like it’s helped me grow in my walk with God and as a wife and daughter. This book talks about eight things you have to quit doing to change your life for the better. Quitting the things that are not of God, like anger, sadness, and faulty thinking, which are all hard things to give up and change. But I’m excited to learn more about these principles because I want to bring new things into my life that will help me be a better woman of God and wife. I hope to share recaps of this book in the near future on the blog.

  3. Worth listening: I love listening to one of my favorite authors and speakers, her name is Debra Fileta. She has a podcast that I listen to every week. I love how genuine she is and the advice she provides from a Christian perspective. I’ve learned so much from her - including one of the books I finished reading recently called, “Are You Really Okay?” If you are interested in learning about self-development and marriage from a Christian perspective, go check out her podcast here.

  4. Something I’m continuously learning and always growing in is how my relationship with God affects every single area of my life. This month I’ve been trying to cultivate more time alone with Jesus, in the word, and community with others. It is something I try to remember every day, a reminder for me to lay down my thoughts, mind, heart, and life in His hands. It’s not always easy. With the busyness of this world and all its distractions, but it’s important for me to try to be intentional every day… and I’m not perfect. There are days when I don’t do it, and I can feel it impacting my life in so many ways. I’ve started encouraging myself with small goals every day, and so far, I’m getting better.

  5. I love being a dog mom. This week my appreciation for Arlo grew so much. Arlo is our 7-month-old bernedoodle. He is the sweetest dog ever. He took good care of me while my husband was out of town. So I spent so much time with him alone - he was my companion while he was away, and he never left my sight. I believe getting our sweet Arlo was one of the best things my husband and I could have done. He’s brought so much joy to our home.

What are you thankful for this week? Or this month? What would you like to achieve or do differently next month? Let me know in the comments below.
